New Year’s Eve: An Annual Manzo Tradition

Image
For many, New Year’s Eve is a holiday that is planned on a whim and without much importance. For me, planning has been simple: party at my place! My family has hosted a party on New Years Eve for as long as I can remember. In my family, we usually rotate the holidays between the different households, and New Year’s was always our holiday.   When I was younger, it had a place along with my birthday and Christmas as one of my most anticipated days of the year. It was time where my entire family (most notably my cousins) would finally come to my house to play. I would see my family all the time (and still do for better or worse ,love you guys! ๐Ÿ˜˜), but we’re usually in Ambler at any of my other family members' places since that is where most of my family is centralized. Our New Year’s Eve party was the exception to the rule and I would spend the entire day waiting in anticipation. Frankly, I still do. Before the party start, the entire day is spent getting prepared

My Favorite Movies of the 2010’s

The end of the year is always a time for reflection, but this year especially with it being the end of the decade. While time always seems to go by quickly, thinking about the entire decade really puts into perspective just how much has happened. I thought that a fun way to celebrate the end of the decade would be to think back and reflect on some of my favorite pieces of pop culture from this past decade. To start, I’m going to think back on some of my favorite movies from this decade.   With the majority of my teenage years being in the 2010’s, many of these films have left a large impression on me and will continue to stay with me as I move forward into the next decade and beyond.   In no particular order, here are some of my favorites: John Wick Franchise I’m one movie in to my list and I’m already cheating . I hope you understand though as all three of the John Wick movies have been fantastic! All three movies feature some of the best and most well-choreograp

Yuletide Management: Keeping Up the Magic of the Holidays

Everyone has a different reaction to the Christmas season. Some people go all out and totally embrace the hype each year (I know a certain cousin of mine who put up their tree on November 1 st … you know who you are ๐Ÿ‘€). Others want nothing to do with the season or may not even acknowledge it and just carry on with their lives as normal (these are also known as boring people ๐Ÿ˜œ). As it currently stands, I seem to gauge myself as somewhere in the middle. I’ve always enjoyed the Christmas season and all of the aspects that come with it like decorating, watching holiday movies, baking, and getting together with family. However, I feel that the season shoots by so quickly that it’s over before you know it. It’s super easy to lose track of time and miss out on doing all of the fun activities. When I was younger, I was absolutely in love with the Christmas season. Putting together your Christmas list and the anticipation of Christmas day is a feeling unlike any other. Just thinking

I'm Back! A Writing Story

I'd consider myself a good writer. It was something that I learned to like later on in my school career, but better late than never. It started right when I started to enjoy English class in my junior and senior years of high school. Then during my process of finding what I wanted to do in college, I started to give writing more of a fair shot. I joined the school newspaper and eventually picked up a minor in professional communication. I also got an internship with a digital marketing agency doing a lot of copywriting work. I was writing content for blogs, Facebook , Instagram, email blasts, and press releases. It was here that I knew that I wanted to incorporate writing into my professional career. This hasn't really happened yet. My first job was a bust in this regard. Now it's been about a year and a half since I left college and I haven't written anything worth reading in a long time. I thought about looking for some freelance writing work once I found out
